Platz gemacht: Abschluss des Initialprojekts Klybeckplatz
“What makes a city great is not the walls or buildings, but the people who inhabit it,” the Greek statesman Pericles once said. True to this principle, the past two years have seen numerous public participants breathing new life into Klybeckplatz with their various projects.
Twenty-four projects by around 90 project leaders, with over 800 visitors – the ‘Klybeckplatz’ pilot project, made possible over the last 18 months by the planning partners – the canton of Basel-Stadt, Swiss Life, and Rhystadt – provided a platform for commitment, dedication and experimentation. It will now be completed on schedule by the end of the year.
The Klybeckplatz project embodies cooperation, innovation and the gradual opening up of the entire Klybeck site, which will to develop into a green, mixed-use, climate-friendly neighbourhood over the coming years. In a project report, those involved look back. The report reflects on the project and the shared experiences of the many participants, highlighting the significant commitment and innovation shown by all concerned.
The planning partners – the canton of Basel-Stadt, Swiss Life, and Rhystadt – would like to take this opportunity to extend their warmest thanks to all those involved in the project, and to the project council and the team. With a great deal of innovative dedication, a willingness to experiment and a passion for what they were doing, people brought Klybeckplatz to life from summer 2021 to December 2022.
We would also like to wish all subscribers to the klybeckplus newsletter a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
